Highlights:

  • 35,000 square feet neighborhood health and wellness center
  • Adaptive re-use of an historic fire station with a dynamic, contemporary addition
  • Provides an exemplary model of green urban development for the City of Columbus
  • In keeping with the Mayor's "Get Green" initiative, the building will be a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified silver facility
  • Passive solar design of the building makes use of the sun to help with heating and lighting at different times of the year, as well as improve the health and well-being of its occupants by providing extensive natural light.
  • A bioswale will control storm water run-off, a light colored roof to reduce summer air temperatures outside the building, high-efficiency heating and cooling systems, and high-efficiency windows and walls
  • Native Ohio landscaping and local historical elements will also be incorporated throughout the site design
