Highlights:
1998 International Illumination Design Award
- 40,000 square foot addition; 38,000 square foot remodeling
- Located in historic downtown Westerville, the Library presented a design challenge of expanding within a tight urban space while remaining true to the surrounding history and character of Old Westerville
- To meet this challenge, most of the addition is an elevated second story, located above a 45-space parking area
- A new organizing atrium space ties the existing areas together with the new creating a well organized functional library
- The interior of the new adult fiction/ non-fiction area is characterized by a naturally lit clerestory that offers patron seating central to collections
- Phase II of this project, a 10,000 square foot addition, adds teen area, expanded media, and consolidated administrative space
