Client:
Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Highlights:
- Planning/Programming goal was to create up-to-date and customer-focused facilities for the Main Library and six Branch Libraries: Brookline, Hazelwood, Homewood, Squirrel Hill, Woods Run, Downtown
- Main Library Ideal Relationship diagrams revealed the need to create a "popular library" that acted as a neighborhood branch on the first floor with in-depth subject departments on the second, third, and stack levels
- Master Plan was completed for the entire facility, and then a first floor program was created to be used by the local architect
- Architectural services as well as interior layouts were provided for the remaining floors
- Branch libraries were renovated and expanded using the new programs
- System-wide furniture and service desk prototypes were developed for all Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh projects
