DesignGroup’s Brian Skripac Presents at Autodesk University
In early December, DesignGroup’s BIM Technology Manager, Brian Skripac, Assoc, AIA, LEED AP, presented at the Autodesk University 2009 Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada. The three-day conference hosts over 500 sessions for 5,500 technology focused design professionals from over 100 countries.
The “Building Information Model Collaboration from Concept to Construction” seminar was co-presented with Brian Krause, Regional Manager, Virtual Design & Construction – Turner Construction Company, and presented a case study of Butler Health System’s new patient tower that reviewed best practices and the optimized uses of Autodesk BIM technologies, such as Revit and Navisworks, to design, manage, collaborate and construct a complex, fast-track 230,000 sf healthcare facility.
Brian’s session titled “A Holistic Approach to BIM Management: Merging Technology and Practice” explored the many emerging responsibilities of a BIM Technology Manager. Brian demonstrated the value to design firms of having a dynamic, experienced, and dedicated resource to provide vision and leadership in the innovation, development and implementation of new technologies. This year the Conference hosted it fourth annual Pecha Kucha (pronounced peh-cha ku-cha) Night. Pecha Kucha draws its name from the Japanese term for the sounds of conversation ("chit chat"), and rests on a presentation format based on a simple idea: 20 images x 20 seconds. This format makes presentations concise and moving at a rapid pace - lasting only 6 minutes and 40 seconds. Invited to be one of the ten leading creative thinkers at the conference, Brian presented to over 400 people on the topic of sustainability and the theme of “Exploring the Nature of Change” at DesignGroup’s recently completed Grange Insurance Audubon Center.
